Half-year impact update: what the numbers say about January to June 2026

Every six months we publish the numbers behind our programs. Not just the numbers we are proud of, but the ones that tell us where we are falling short. Below is what we saw between January and June 2026.

The headline figures

Between January and June our programs reached 24,780 direct beneficiaries across ten states. That is 18 percent higher than the same period last year, and slightly ahead of our internal target. The Community Dialogue Initiative accounted for the largest share of this growth, adding four new sites in Kaduna and Plateau states.

Our Northeast Education Recovery program reopened seven schools during the period, training 124 teachers and enrolling 1,940 previously out-of-school children. This is behind our target of ten schools, largely because of security-related delays in two of our LGAs. The three schools we could not reopen this half are scheduled for Q3.

Where we struggled

Two areas where we did not perform to our own standards. Our follow-up on Campus Peace Ambassador alumni dropped to 61 percent of graduates reached, against our target of 80 percent. We attribute this to staff turnover in our alumni team and are recruiting to close the gap. We are also behind on our safeguarding audit for the community dialogue sites, which was meant to be completed by the end of June. It is now scheduled for September.

What comes next

In the second half of the year we will be publishing three major pieces of work: our annual Kaduna dialogue evaluation, a policy brief on out-of-school children in the Northeast, and the third edition of our Voices from the Field community storytelling series. We will also open applications for the 2026 Campus Peace Ambassador cohort in September.
